Self-reliance is more than having a good job, food storage, or money in the bank. Self-reliance is “the ability, commitment, and effort to provide for the spiritual and temporal necessities of life for self and family. As members become self-reliant, they are also better able to serve and care for others,” and work is enthroned as a ruling principle in their lives. Contact us to join one of our groups.
No matter your story, we welcome you to join us as we all try to be a little bit better, a little bit kinder, a little more helpful—because that’s what Jesus taught. You can request a visit from missionaries. We’ll help you know what to expect at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Then we’ll be at the door to greet you and sit with you on Sunday!
Temples are literally houses of the Lord and the only places on earth where families can be united forever. In temples, we draw nearer to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Temples have been around for a long time. The Bible tells us Moses had a tabernacle, Solomon built a beautiful temple, and Jesus taught at the temple in Jerusalem. Today,
Today, members come together to worship in over 20 Chapels across Cape Town (and over 150 in South Africa). Every year, our members offer many hours of service to their local communities through personal service as well as our ‘Helping Hands’ and ‘Light the World’ projects. We have weekly/monthly youth programs where youth have fun and are equipped with knowledge and skills. We also run multiple self-reliance workshops to help members of our church and our communities to get better work, study further, start their own businesses and prepare for their futures.
“As a church we reach out not only to our own people but also to those people of goodwill throughout the world in that spirit of brotherhood which comes from the Lord Jesus Christ.”
President Thomas S. Monson
President Russell M. Nelson has invited you to “transform [your] home into a sanctuary of faith” and to “remodel your home into a center of gospel learning.” To those who do these things, he promised: “Your children will be excited to learn and to live the Savior’s teachings, and the influence of the adversary in your life and in your home will decrease”. The Come, Follow Me study manual is the study guide provided by the Church for the current year. Access weekly study resources, lesson outlines, and supplementary materials to enhance your personal and family scripture study by following the link or download the Gospel Library App.
